Methorios Capital to sponsor Italian Open

Italian Corporate Finance Company Methorios Capital has reached an agreement with The European Tour and the Italian Golf Federation to become the title sponsor of the Italian Open. The €1,700,000 Methorios Capital Italian Open will once again be staged at the magnificent Castello di Tolcinasco Golf and Country Club in Milan, from May 8-11, where Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño of Spain will defend the title he won so dramatically after a sudden-death play-off with Austria’s Markus Brier last year. Fernandez-Castaño’s victory sparked memorable celebrations, with the Spaniard being triumphantly thrown into the swimming pool at Castello di Tolcinasco Golf and Country Club after receiving the 83 year old Italian Open trophy. With expertise in asset management, financial services and investment banking, Methorios Capital is a valuable addition to The European Tour International Schedule. Fabio Palumbo, Chairman of Methorios Capital, said: “We are delighted to become involved in an event as prestigious as the Italian Open. To be associated with this great championship is a great honour, and we hope that Methorios Capital can play a part in enhancing Italy’s most important tournament.” George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour, said: “This is tremendous news for the Italian Open. We welcome Methorios Capital to The European Tour as our newest partner and thank them for their commitment to Italian golf and the Tour. We wish them every success in their new golfing venture and hope our partnership can develop in the coming years.”
