10 companies compete for Ryder Cup Branding

A diverse range of ten companies from the Golf Industry have signed up to become Ryder Cup Official Licensees, offering an eclectic mix of golfing products to the general public both in the run-up to The Ryder Cup at Valhalla Golf Club, Louisville, Kentucky from September 19-21, 2008, and beyond that to the home match at The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport, South Wales, in 2010. The companies who have contracted with Ryder Cup Europe are; Titleist, Ashworth UK Ltd, Bobby Jones Lifestyle Ltd, Fairway & Greene, Glenmuir Limited, Level 4 Golf Ltd, Oscar Jacobson Ab, ProQuip Ltd, Sunderland of Scotland Limited and Tommy Hilfiger Europe BV. For Titleist, Ashworth UK Ltd, Glenmuir Limited, Level 4 Golf Ltd, Oscar Jacobson Ab, ProQuip Ltd and Sunderland of Scotland Limited , it represents a renewal of their position as licensees. Sunderland of Scotland Limited was first associated with Ryder Cup Europe in 1981 and ProQuip Ltd has a relationship stretching back to 1985. Glenmuir Limited and Oscar Jacobson Ab have both been associated with Ryder Cup Europe since 1987. For Bobby Jones Lifestyle Ltd, Fairway & Greene and Tommy Hilfiger Europe BV, however, 2008 represents their first involvement with the world’s leading golf team event. Products from the companies which will feature the unique 2008 Ryder Cup logo include men’s, ladies and children’s apparel, golf accessories, waterproofs, golf balls, golf bags and luggage. These will be available from the individual licensees themselves as well as from www.rydercup.com Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: “We are delighted to welcome these ten companies – some of whom we have long established relationships with, some of which are new acquaintances – as Ryder Cup Official Licensees. “Together with their commitment to grow distribution and help us to market our brand, the high quality of the products they supply mirrors perfectly the excellence with which we pride ourselves in relation to all aspects of The Ryder Cup and we look forward to working with these companies in the months leading up to the contest itself.” Ryder Cup Europe will make further appointments in the run up to The 2010 Ryder Cup and, as part of this process, is working closely with the Welsh Government to explore opportunities for Welsh based companies to supply products, services and licensed goods.
