Witter and Froch make Star Billing

ITV and Hennessy Sports announced that the WBC world light-welterweight title fight between Junior Witter and Timothy Bradley will be broadcast live on ITV1 on the same May 10th bill as Carl Froch’s WBC super-middleweight final eliminator against Denis Inkin. British boxing star Witter will be making his third defence of his WBC world title against his number one WBC mandatory contender, America’s Timothy Bradley. The fight will jointly top a huge night of boxing on ITV1 from the Nottingham Arena alongside Carl Froch’s final eliminator contest against Russia’s Denis Inkin for the chance to become the next WBC super-middleweight champion. The under card, broadcast on ITV4, will include the highly anticipated English title fight between John Murray and John Fewkes. Junior Witter said: “It will be great to showcase my talent in front of a nationwide audience on ITV1; the great British public will now be able to see the fighter who Ricky Hatton is avoiding. I‘m defending my WBC title, the most prestigious belt in boxing. A title Hatton has never been able to win; in fact he got knocked out fighting for the WBC title in his last fight. Mark Sharman, ITV Director of News and Sport said: “We’re delighted to be able to add the Junior Witter fight to the ITV1 bill. Alongside the Froch versus Inkin final eliminator and a great under card, this will be a fantastic night’s boxing live on ITV.” Event Promoter Mick Hennessy said: “This was already a great show, now I feel this is one of the very best events for many a year”. The fight will be broadcast on ITV1, live from the Nottingham Arena, with further fights from the under-card broadcast on ITV4. Coverage will also be simulcast on ITV.com
